first generation computer

First generation computer was  evolved from machines that needed separate manual action to perform each arithmetic operation, to punched card machines.The first generation computers were enormous filing up entire rooms with tens of thousands of vacuum tubes , but were much slower than the cheapest personal computer. Some examples are UNIVAC , ENIVAC etc.In those days vacuum tubes were only available. Vacuum tube technology made possible the advent of electronic digital computers
